As an actress, she is probably most recognized from her lead role in the film ''Making Mr. Right'', but she seems to have made a career of memorable cameos. A real-life Downtown fixture during the 80's, she was the Cigarette Girl in the East Village-set Desperately Seeking Susan with Madonna, a snarly real estate agent with Jodie Foster in Panic Room, David Bowie's sexy victim in The Hunger, a Madam in Tank Girl and Mel Gibson's "money junkie" ex-wife in Tequila Sunrise. She also played a secretary in ''Clear and Present Danger'' and appeared in ''Cabin Boy''. She was a regular on the sitcoms ''Anything But Love'' and ''Wanda at Large''.
Magnuson has a sizeable underground following due to her status as lead vocalist of the band Bongwater, a collaboration with notorious nyc musician/producer KRAMER, founder of SHIMMY-DISC and producer of literally hundreds of bands and artists who defined the music of the era. She wrote most of the lyrics for their landmark 1991 album "The Power of Pussy", while Kramer composed the music.
Between 1979 and 1989 she managed Club 57.
Graduate of Denison University, class of 1978.
